Contributions are open for Volume 02. Contributors to this volume keep in mind that their comics should in some way be about girls/women. Either the protagonist should be a girl or the story should be related specifically to female subjects/issues, or the comic should be created by a woman.

COMIX.INDIA VOL. 03 – THIRD WORLD FANTASY
Volume 03 of COMIX.INDIA focusses on the fantasy genre. Submissions for this volume must be an original SF (Science Fiction) or Fantasy comic story.Retelling Indian mythology is OK, but original stories will be given preference.

Did you already fill the quota for Vol 1? because a friend of mine is frantically working to meet the 31st Dec deadline!
NO, no! This is just an announcement. Quota is not filled as yet. I will announce the contributors for Volume 1 only after the deadline is over. Please ask your friend to submit.
I feel the term ‘Third world’ is kind of derogatory. Why are we calling it a ‘Third World Fantasy’? Wouldn’t simply ‘Fantasy’ do?
I see your point, but I don’t consider the word to be derogatory. Rather it is self-effacing, or self-deprecatory. The words ‘third world’ are a qualifier to ‘fantasy’. The modern fantasy and SF genres are decidedly part of the grand technological faith of Europe, America and any other technologically advanced society. The genre comes with a certain degree of baggage. No wonder it is not such a popular genre in India, which was part of the British Empire just 62 years ago. The interesting thing about our society is that we have a healthy scepticism about the glories of science and technology. So, as a developing country, what kind of fantasies do we indulge in, when we have a three thousand year old mythology still ruling our minds? ‘Third World Fantasy’ is a challenge to comics authors to come up with original stuff, not imitations of American SF or Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, and neither retelling of the same ancient Hindu Mythology. Something new, something that speaks to our world today… thats ideally what I am looking for. Lets see what we get!
