An Introduction
COMIX.INDIA is India’s first independent black and white comics anthology. We have released five volumes so far, through the print-on-demand model. Contributors include industry stalwarts as well as many first-timers.
COMIX.INDIA works on a profit-sharing basis, with revenue from the anthologies split equally between all contributors (subject to a minimum page contribution). Comix.India keeps no part of the profits. This co-operative system means that each author is part ‘owner’ and ‘publisher’ of the magazine, and is entirely responsible for the magazine’s success. The copyright of individual contributions rests with the authors themselves.

A Brief History
Sometime around mid-2009, Bharath Murthy was bemoaning the lack of avenues for Indian artists who wanted to publish short comics. The market was over-whelmingly oriented towards kids, and comics of a mature nature had no outlets.
He realised self-publishing was a great way of putting together an anthology of alternate comics, with minimal risk. He met Kailash Iyer on the Comic Discussion Board of India (an online forum for Indian comics that he was running at that time), and got him onboard as a collaborator. He then put out a call for entries, and the response was overwhelming!
The first issue of Comix.India came out in March 2010.
